In November 2000, George Crisp went to Charlotte, NC and met Jim & Ronda Shock who started the very first Recovery Church. In February, 2001 Pastor George and several individuals started the Angels Healing and Recovery Church in Austin, TX. It was the first Recovery Church in Texas.
While praying for the leading of the Lord, we were blessed to find Pastor Tom & Erin Dykman and the Sunrise Community Church congregation. They have blessed us with the use of their church each and every week. (Please see our weekly schedule). We have been there since 2001 and are eternally grateful for this facility and the blessings of this fine ministry. The Church is now led by Pastor Mark and Catie Hilbelink.
In 2001, Angels Healing and Recovery Church also started its street ministry, now called Bridge of Angels. This ministry began on the streets of downtown Austin. In 2005 our Austin City Manager allowed us to use the parking lot facility under the freeway bridge at 7th & I35, right across the street from the Austin City Police Station. We are grateful for this facility and the blessings of the city’s generosity. The Bridge of Angels Ministry stands on the Holy Scripture; Matthew 25:35 (NKJV) “for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in;“… We are seeing miracle transformations and changes in the lives of the people we serve as a result of the feeding, caring, clothing, and ministering to those who come to us under the bridge.
Every Saturday at 10:30am, a group of dedicated Servants of God gather. We serve a hot meal, sack lunches, and provide first aid and clothing. We then start our Holy Spirit led service which includes the praise and worship band, the Word of God and testimonies.
People are then invited to receive prayer and to surrender their lives to the Lord. We have seen many, many souls won for the Kingdom of Jesus Christ. Many of these individuals have had their lives uplifted with jobs, housing, restoration of families, and healing miracles all done by the Holy Spirit.
